The Islamic Revolution and Sacred Defense National Museum is one of the largest museums in Asia, equipped with modern technology and interactive displays that depict Iran’s contemporary history—particularly the Iran–Iraq War (1980–1988).
The museum features seven exhibition halls, each narrating a distinct part of the story of the Islamic Revolution and the eight years of the Sacred Defense. These halls are arranged in seven parallel sections, designed to guide visitors through different historical themes and events. The exhibitions combine sculptural, artistic, visual, and conceptual works to present the rich and complex history of modern Islamic Iran.
Among the museum’s major attractions are the Garden Path, Hoor al-Azim Artificial Lake, zip line, amphitheater halls, specialized library, and panorama display (depicting the façade of Khorramshahr). Other highlights include the Memorial of the Unknown Martyrs, the Open-Air Museum, and a 5D cinema.
At the far end of the museum’s western section stands the Memorial of the Nine Martyrs of the Sacred Defense, serving as a solemn tribute to their sacrifice.
